My time in Dramatic Arts

Image
My time in Dramatic Arts In the beginning of this semester, I think that I was inexperienced and did not know what I was doing.      Throughout the year I have  grown a lot  in theater, I have figured out the best character for me  to play and how to really get into my character. I also have made progress of the process of things. My first monologue I had to change how I did the blocking a lot, but on the last project once I switched roles with Caitlyn, we did the project and I knew what I was comfortable with doing and that was it. I think I have stretched myself a lot, especially with the Aladdin project. I had never performed a modern piece before,  the only dance I had performed was Indian dance. I had never choreographed anything either. That piece was also hard for me in the sense of learning an entire dance routine  for I wanna dance with somebody in about two days which is...
For the final project in our ninth grade Caitlyn and I decided to pick out a script, memorize the lines and then block it. I think that there was definitely trail and error. In the beginning of the project I was originally the mean girl, but it was hard for me to act it out. So, Caitlyn and I switched parts and I became the shy and timid girl. In the end I think that we really got into our characters. In the sense that I really felt like Jan, my character. I could feel her hurt when Caitlyn's character insulted her. I think that I personally grew during my time in Dramatic Arts. In the beginning I had never been in a play or had any experience of performing except for my piano recitals. During this short period of time I have learned what the easiest way for me to memorize lines are, how to do stage makeup, and how to choreograph dance. The biggest and most important thing that I learned was probably how to really get into a character. I would do this by over exaggerating first and...

New Project Proposal

For Caitlyn and I's final project we would like to do a two person scene. In this scene there are two girls who are  signing up for a beauty pageant. In this scene I will be playing person two. I think that this is a good way for me to start working on interactions through scenes. Because our  class is so small, we can't do many scenes with people in them.  I  want.to do this because I want to go out of my comfort zone a little bit.  This project also seems like a good idea because I have a hard time. keeping a straight face. One time, when I had  one line in a scene,  I broke character and started  laughing during it. So this will definitely challenge me especially because this is a comedy piece. I think that this will showcase how much I have grown, from when we performed the first monologue. I think that this will also display the skills I have learned as well. It will do this because I am more familiar in the Arts then I was before. https://...

Reflection on Stage make up unit

Image
For Caitlyn and I's third project, we did the stage makeup unit. We were given three guidelines, one old  persons makeup, one basic makeup, and one fantasy makeup. In this project there was a lot of trial and error in this because I have practically no experience with stage makeup. I also faced some challenges because I am prone to getting eczema, so Caitlyn had to be the model for most of the project. Unfortunately because everything was so new to me, and I had trouble in the beginning with. learning how to use and what the materials to use, we never got around to the old persons makeup. Though the fantasy makeup that I did, I am very proud of even though it took me a while to do. Something that I could have done better is I could have been more efficient with my time. I kept changing my plan which made the final project look good, but took up a lot of time. I think that the final project came out phenomenal and it was a lot of fun. Using the glitter glue I made a swirly design on...
