Monologue Prep
1. Understanding the character
The character is named Evan. He is a boy, who always is studying and who's father doesn't trust him. I am a little bit of a know it all and not many of my classmates like me.
2. Situation
When Evan took his test in American History, someone planted a cheat sheet. The teacher found it and contacted his father, all Evan wants to do is make his father proud. Evan is talking to his father trying to convince him that he didn't cheat. So he offers to retake the test.
3. Language and meaning
All Evan is trying to say is that he didn't cheat on his American History test.
4. Emotions
Evan seems to be angry, be trayed, upset, realization and desperate to prove that he didn't cheat. He starts out upset, then he gets angry, then he feels betrayed, he's then desperate to prove that he didn't cheat, finally he realizes what might have happened.
5. Body language and blocking
Evan begins by pacing, then stops and just stands, then he begins to pace again, then he sits finally at the end.
