Aladdin Reflection

During my Dramatic Arts class, Caitlyn and I performed A Whole New World from the disney musical Aladdin. I played the role of Jasmine and Caitlyn as Aladdin. We choreographed the entire dance, except for the ending. I think that we did a great job choreographing it. Some of my favorite parts of it was probably when we went onto the stairs because it was a lot of fun to dance on. Another part that was  my favorite was right after I had gone down the step and we did a small dance. I think that that part went really well with the music and was well choreographed. At the end of the aladdin piece, to make it our own we added I wanna Dance with Somebody into the performance. I think that it was a fun spin on the dance.I think that I grew a lot while choreographing this dance both as a performer and learning theater. In the beginning of the project. I think that we had this very classic idea. In  the middle we decided to change it up. I think that it added more depth into our performance. We could have added a lot more to the performance by adding more props and scenery. I personally spearheaded the lighting design, which was not amazing, but still not bad. My lighting design was for the original “classical” spin on Aladdin. But we still used some components in the variation. Something really hard for me was learning the dance for “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”. Something that was easier for me was doing the lighting. For my costume I was going to bring in an indian outfit that reminded  me of Jasmine. Instead I decided to use my dress that was more of a modernized version of Jasmine, kind of like the other half of our dance.
